Populations are segments of data from your data source. These Populations align with key stages in your funnel, such as Prospects, Open Opportunities, and Customers

Create a Population

Click on Data from the navigation menu, select Populations from the dropdown options. (or click here)

On this page, you'll see the three Standard Populations:

  • Customer

  • Open Opportunities

  • Prospects

Each standard Population has a create button next to it. Click Create to begin setting up that Population.

This will take you to the Population Builder:

  • Select a data source from the Data Source menu

  • Select the specific object you're using in your data source

  • Add Optional Population description

  • Click Continue

  • Next, you will define your Population and apply filters

    • you will be able to review the data in a preview window before creating the Population

Pre-Applied Filters

When creating a new Standard Population (Customer, Open Opportunities, Prospects), Crossbeam will recommend filters to define your Population quickly to align with best practices for overlaps.

These filters are based on your connected CRM and the fields you've synced, serving as a baseline for that Population type.

  • Example: For a Customer Population in Salesforce, Crossbeam might auto-apply Stage = Closed Won or Account Type = Customer as default filters

  • A tooltip will display next to each filter shows why it was suggested

  • You can edit, remove, or add filters at anytime

  • click Apply Filters when done

If needed, sync additional fields to assist with population building

Adjust Data Settings

On the Data Sources workspace, hover over the three dots at the end of the Salesforce row to reveal the Settings button.

Click on Settings (Click this link) to:

  • Edit Data Sync: Click Edit Data Sync to open the Customize pop-up, allowing you to add or remove specific fields

Population creation will prompt Default Sharing Setting Options

Default Sharing Settings determine the amount of data a partner will see when you accept their partnership request or they accept yours

Partner Sharing settings will be created at a later time

In Crossbeam, there are three Sharing Setting options:

  • Overlap counts: You won’t share any account-level details. Partners will only see how many accounts you have in common.

    • great way to vet your partner overlap before sharing data

  • Share overlaps: Only accounts that overlap with your partners will be shared.

    • control the data sets you share with partners out of the gate

  • Share all: All accounts will be shared — including both overlapping accounts and non-overlapping accounts (Greenfield sharing).

    • Greenfield sharing lets you identify non-overlapping accounts with your partners, helping you uncover new leads for joint campaigns.
