Overview
Population settings control how your Populations are configured. From the Populations workspace, you can update a Population's filters, change sharing defaults, and take actions like duplicating, converting, exporting, or deleting a Population.
Accessing Your Populations
Navigate to Data → Populations
Edit a Population
To update a Population:
Locate the Population you want to update
Click the pencil icon to open the Population Builder
To adjust filters, see How to Use Population Filters for detailed guidance
Click Save Changes when done
Update Sharing Settings
Each Population has its own sharing setting that controls how much account-level data partners can see. You will also be prompted to set a sharing default when creating any new Population.
Locate the Population you want to update
Click the Sharing Setting in the Population row to edit
Select one of the options and Click save
Sharing Level | What partners see |
All Accounts | Partners can see every account in this Population, including those that do not overlap |
Overlapping Accounts | Partners can see the list of accounts you both share |
Counts Only | Partners only see how many accounts you have in common |
Hidden | Population remains fully private |
Selecting All Accounts exposes Greenfield accounts—accounts you have that don't overlap with a given partner. Learn more in Advanced Account Mapping: Greenfield Reports.
Field Presets
Field presets control which fields from your data source are shared with partners for a given population. Fields are configured per data source.
In the sharing settings modal, locate the Field Presets for Selected Population section
Select a preset from the list or keep the recommended Crossbeam default fields; see Sharing Presets in Population to learn more.
✍️ Note
Population-level sharing is one part of Crossbeam's broader sharing controls. To learn more, see Understanding Sharing Settings for Partners.
Additional Population Actions
Click the three dots next to any Population to access these options:
Duplicate—Creates a copy of the Population with the same description and filters.
Convert to Custom Population—Converts a standard population into a custom Population. See Custom Populations to learn more.
Export Population—Exports the Population data.
Delete Population—Permanently removes the Population. This action cannot be undone.
✍️ Note
Deleting a Population removes it from any active account mapping reports and partner sharing configurations.
