Overview
Product-based Populations let you segment accounts in Crossbeam by the products those accounts have purchased. Once you've synced Product2 data from Salesforce and configured your field mapping, you can build a custom Population that identifies all accounts associated with a specific product. This gives you a clear, shareable view of your customer base by product line.
✍️ Note
This feature requires Salesforce as your data source and is not currently available for other CRMs.
You must have Product2 and Opportunity Line Item synced and your Product Line Type field mapped before building a product-based population.
See How to Sync Product Line Support (Product2) into Crossbeam to complete setup first.

How It Works
Populations in Crossbeam are built around accounts. When you sync Product2 from Salesforce, Crossbeam makes product data available as a filter when building custom Populations. This allows you to build a Population of accounts associated with a specific product based on their closed-won opportunities, making it ideal for building a Customer Population.
Steps to Build a Product-Based Population
Step 1: Navigate to Populations
Click Data from the left-hand navigation and select Populations from the dropdown
Click the Create Population button to open the Population Builder
Step 2: Name your Population and select a type
Enter a descriptive name (e.g., Advanced Security Module – Customers)
Under Population Type, select Customers
Under Data Source, select Salesforce
Under Object, select Accounts
Add an optional description
Click Continue
✍️ Note
Selecting Customers for Population type ensures this Population is recognized across Crossbeam features like the Account Mapping Matrix, Deal Navigator, and Performance Dashboard.
See Population Types for Custom Populations to learn more.
Step 3: Add a Product2 filter
Click Add Filter
Under the Product2 filter group, select Product Name or Product ID
Set the operator to is and enter the product value you want to filter by
Step 4: Filter to Closed opportunities
Click Add Filter
Search for Closed; this field is listed under Opportunity
Set the value to true
Step 5: Filter to Won opportunities
Click Add Filter
Search for Won; this field is listed under Opportunity
Set the value to true
Confirm the logic for both filters reads where Closed is true and where Won is true
Click Apply Filters to preview the accounts in this Population
Step 6: Create your Population
Review the previewed accounts to confirm the results look correct
Click Create Population
